refurbished c. 1940's american industrial heavy gauge tubular steel "localite" triple-joint task lamp designed and fabricated by the fostoria pressed steel corp., fostoria, oh. the pressed and formed steel articulating lamp contains the popular "slim helmet" reflector-shade with integrated socket house. the brushed metal finish has been sealed with a clear coat lacquer. a new socket and wiring have been added to the task lamp (not shown). the single light fixture was likely mounted to a factory machine shop lathe or workbench. fostoria began producing the "localite" (in various configurations) beginning in 1918. the ball-and-socket joints are in good working condition. several variations available. socket and mounting plate included. fixture extension measures 35 inches, mount measures 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches.
