all original and intact antique american late 1840's or early 1850's ten-sided light cobalt blue southwick & tupper iron-pontiled soda or mineral water bottled discovered in a new york city residential backyard privy "vault" or pit. the hard to find multi-faceted glass bottle was likely fabricated by union or possibly dyottville in pennsylvania. the unique mid-19th century cobalt blue bottle contains the names of the bottlers, along with the location (i.e., new york) in the form of fanciful embossed lettering, running vertically along the panels. the deeply "kicked up" base retains a substantial amount of iron oxide residue from the pontil rod. the long neck is outfitted with an applied tapered collar or lip. the bottle contains various crudities consistent with age and make.
