all original c. 1910-20 american antique industrial galvanized steel "protector a" lamp guard designed and fabricated by the mcgill mfg. co., valparaiso, ind. the incandescent light bulb guard or enclosure is comprised of lightweight bent galvanized steel wire. the distinctive spring or coiled "cushion" or cradle was designed to minimize vibration of the light bulb and/or filament in factory conditions. the unrestored lamp guard has been lightly cleaned .
