single completely intact american depression-era stationary compartmentalized or multi-drawer lowboy dresser cabinet designed and fabricated by the simmons mfg. co., kenosha, wisc. the pressed and folded metal dresser was patented by albert witike in the 1930's. the brushed and sanded metal dresser contains multiple sliding drawers with original knob pulls. the spindled legs contain bassick swivel casters. the lowboy dresser or cabinet has been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the bare metal dresser was salvaged from a chicago hospital private patient room. very clean and simple in design. great overall condition. strong and sturdy. simmons specialized in the industrial design and fabrication of all-metal furniture for use in mostly commercial applications (e.g., hospitals, schools, office buildings, hotels, etc.). urban remains carries the largest selection of refinished (i.e., brushed and/or bare metal) simmons furniture in the country. measures 40 x 19 x 34 inches.
