hard to find antique c. 1850's medium aqua blue glass hexagonal gothic style pepper sauce bottle. the well cleaned and vibrant glass exhibits a long and narrow body indented with typical gothic or cathedral style designs. the multi-paneled bottle is finished with a double ring finish that exhibits heavy slop. the base has an open pontil and strong seams that indicate manufacture in a two leaf mold. crudities are typical of its age and date of manufacture. pepper sauce bottles were used to season tainted meat, and civil war soldiers were known to have carried the cylindrical style jars.
