remarkable late 19th century antique american victorian era interior residential "room divider" double-sided slatted oak wood panel or grille salvaged from a chicago mansion constructed around 1897. the largely intact oversized varnished oak wood grille was originally mounted above a large opening dividing the front parlor and dining room. the intricately designed gesso or composition remains in good overall condition and is mounted securely against the closely spaced wood slats. the long rectangular-shaped panel was believed to be fabricated by the northwestern grille works, chicago, il. the original varnished finish remains intact. the delicate ribbons, bellflowers and anthemions are finely detailed with light surface crazing evident. only one panel available. measures 65 x 1 x 14 inches
