original reinforced american industrial heavy gauge steel freestanding "otsteel" joliet penitentiary stool designed and fabricated by the angle steel stool company, plainwell, mi. the four-legged stool retains the original weathered and worn solid oak wood seat with a prisoner's identification found stenciled on the underside. the riveted joint stretchers provide added support and rigidity. the workshop stool has been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the oak wood seat has been lightly refinished. the distinctive inward-turned ball feel provide added stability. base measures 15 1/2 x 15 1/2, seat diameter measures 14 inches, height measures 30 inches.
