original late 1930's american medical cook county hospital doctor examination room work station and/or supply cabinet possibly fabricated by the frank s. betz company, hammond, ind. the freestanding compact cabinet is comprised of cold-rolled furniture steel brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the cabinet contains a single drawer and cabinet drawer with a centrally located opening with glass plate (likely contained a cross and/or the word "sterilizer" at one point in time). below the cabinet door lies a hinged trash chute with a lower door below, used for accessing the discarded contents or trash can stored inside. the original round knob pulls are intact. the grooved chrome banding along the top is free from pitting or major discoloration. measures approximately 17 1/2 x 13 x 32 inches.
