original 19th or early 20th century original and intact highly ornamented cast iron stationary "enterprise" coffee grinder mill machine base designed and fabricated by or for the enterprise mfg. co., philadelphia, pa. the impressive oversized grinding machine base contains an early red paint finish with surface wear and discoloration consistent with age. the decorative iron base consists of two perforated sides jointed together by a central stretcher or brace accentuated with foliated leafage. additional support, in the form of two wrought steel or iron opposed stretcher rods are bolted firmly against the side panels. the coffee machine or mill sat atop the square-shaped platform featuring a centrally located hole surrounded by a raised base plate. base diameter measures 24 1/2 inches x total height measures 36 inches.
