original 19th century antique american salvaged chicago encircled portrait or head majolica-glazed figural fireplace tiles salvaged from a chicago three-flat built around 1889-92. the two corner tiles are free from breaks, cracks or mortar affixed on the backside. the exact designed and/or fabricator is not known. surface crazing consistent with age. priced for the pair.
