impressive oversized michael reese hospital wexler pavilion entrance door handle
original and historically important slightly tapered, solid stainless steel entrance door handle removed from the simon wexler psychiatric research & clinic pavilion prior to it demolition. the circular research & clinic pavilion was designed by chicago architects ezra gordon and jack levin. built in 1962, this building served as an outpatient facility with interview rooms arranged around the circumference of the building. there are a multitude of convex-shaped skylights surrounding a massive segmental domed centered skylight located on the top floor of the building. the entrance door handle is a customized design, executed by russwin, national or some other maker. the brushed steel handle measures 24 inches in height. the doors from which the handles were removed flanked a revolving door with matching finish. historic representation of architectural aspects pertaining the "modernist" or modern movement. the framed photographic image taken in the 1960s from the room where a patient/photographer resided is included. signature and note found on obverse.
