completely intact 19th century privy dug pint-sized colorless or clear glass milk bottle manufactured for polonia dairy co. in chicago, illinois. the machine-made "common sense" shaped bottle features vertical fluting all around and cleanly embossed lettering that reads "this bottle property of / and filled by / polonia dairy co./ pasteruized milk / 903-907 / n. winchester ave. / chicago, ill.". the back of the body is embossed "sealed / one pint / liquid / registered". it features the capseat finish characteristic to many milk bottles, meaning a wide bore with an edge about 1/4 inch below the inside of the rounded finish, where the disposable paper cap sealed the contents. the base has a large embossed "p" with a circular, centered valve mark evidencing its manufacture by a press-and-blow machine. the insweep also features an embossed number "1" at the front and "l52" on the opposite side. the glass is in good condition with no chips or cracks, but does have a rainbow-like, iridized coloring along the surface.
