c. whittemore, new york
one of two (the other contains blue-green colored glass) original and lightly tumbled antique american c. 1850's vibrantly colored dark emerald glass "tee-pee" shaped soda or mineral water bottle manufactured for c. whittemore, new york city, ny. the intact slim and tapered privy dug glass bottle has a long neck with an applied and/or integrated circular ring resting below the rounded blob top lip. the cleanly embossed block lettering is found around the entire bottle. "c. whittemore" and "new york" are prominently shown in lightly embossed letters. the base has a high kick-up and loads of black iron oxide residue left from the iron pontil. great overall condition, considering age. fortunately the tumbling of the bottle did not terribly degrade the distinctive and desirable iron oxide. the bottle was dug in a brooklyn privy pit.
