c. 1890-1900 original american victorian era ornamental cast iron exterior residential staircase newel post with mostly uniform black enameled finish. the freestanding iron newel post was fabricated by the dearborn foundry co., chicago, il. the post was salvaged from a chicago three-flat residence undergoing demolition. features chamfered edges and deep relief rosettes. tapered diamond-shaped finial intact. baseplate contains pre-drilled holes for anchoring into the concrete. measures 37 inches in height.
