all original, well-maintained and intact early 20th century uniquely-shaped american antique industrial solid wood pattern used in the manufacture of a. finkl & sons foundry components that were comprised of steel or iron. the original red-painted finish is amazingly intact. the giant-sized pattern is nearly the size of a tractor tire. the segmented pattern is reinforced with cast iron brackets containing flat head screws. the enormous multifaceted wood pattern contains a large central opening with multiple wood knobs or nubs along the tapered top. the patterns contains hand-applied numbers. patterns are wooden forms made to the exact specifications from which a mold is created from for casting metal into. certain colors were used to signify certain specifications for casting purposes. yellow for example, identified areas of hollowness and were sometimes referred to as "core boxes." the exact pattern fabricator is not known, but was likely fabricated in-house in one of the foundry's workshops. makes for an ideal coffee table, etc. measures 60 x 11 1/2 x 61 inches.
