very unique and highly desirable c. 1920's incandescent therapeutic lamp, originally containing a high candle-power, incandescent bulb which produced an exceedingly intense light, capable of producing powerful "thermic effects." the electro-physiotherapeutic floor lamp would have been found in the office of every "electro-therapeutist." the lamp was used to treat cases of sciatica, lumbago, neuritis, and various forms of neuralgia, with the powerful rays of the incandescent lamp producing "wonderful effects." the lamp was manufactured by the electric solar co. of chicago. the c. 1920's medical lamp features a unique weighted cast iron base with original white porcelain enameled finish completely intact. the well-maintained reinforced faceted aluminum reflector or shade with rolled rim retains the original black and blue enameled oval-shaped brass plaque with lightly incised manufacturer markings. the fully adjustable arm and pole (with extension) is comprised of a heavy gauge tubular steel with polished chrome plated finish. the socket housing with pierced holes for ventilation retains the original standard porcelain incandescent light bulb socket. rewired with yellow braided cloth cord. measures 63 inches in height. the diameter of the shade is 10 1/4 inches. the length of the arm (including reflector) measures 15 inches. two identical lamps available.
