original and largely intact late 19th century richardsonian romanesque style ornamental cast iron interior commercial building lobby elevator floor indicator. fabricated by howard iron works, buffalo, ny. contains fanciful double-sided cast bronze letters and numbers ranging from the subbasement to the sixth floor at the very top. the endcaps feature richly ornamented, deep relief acanthus leaves. indicator arrow movement achieved with an intact and original pulley and rope system contained within the cast iron housing.
