early 20th century antique american interior residential varnished oak wood full fireplace mantel designed and fabricated by chas. f. lorenzen & co., chicago, il. the late victorian era mantel contains two opposed full-length solid fluted or deeply grooved columns that reach the topmost protruding shelf. the crown and frieze are accentuated with applied ornament or applique. the original varnished finish is largely intact with surface wear evident. the fireplace mantel was salvaged from a chicago graystone residence constructed in the early 20th century. measures approximately 57 x 8 1/2 x 80 inches.
