19th century american victorian era decorative interior residential pocket door "cahin-link" pattern pocket door mortise lock designed and patented by rodolphe w. e. cheistesen of new britain, connecticut, assignor to the russell & erwin manufacturing company. the unusual pattern is described as "two series of rounded wire-like elevations crossing each other" with square rosette blocks containing gothic style quarterfoils. the bronze faceplate contains a mostly uniform faceplate. the two-part locking finger, sliding handle and push-button are original and intact. measures approximately 7 1/2 x 1 1/4 x 3 1/2 inches.
