single late 1930's or early 1940's vintage american industrial single-sided heavy gauge steel "one way" directional chicago city street sign possibly fabricated by the indestructible street sign co., columbus, oh. the reinforced metal street sign contains an oversized white enameled or painted directional arrow with deeply embossed lettering running parallel with it. the largely intact black and white enameled color scheme has a nicely worn finish from prolonged exposure to the outdoor elements. some, but not all city of chicago signs contain the word "chicago" at the very bottom. others were left blank. the single-sided sign contains four screw holes for mounting flush against a wall. measures 36 x 12 inches
