all original c. 1880's antique american aesthetic movement entrance door inner backplate or escutcheon designed and fabricated by branford lock works, branford, ct. the "oriental" pattern doorknob backplate features a unique protruding collar or thimble with grooved lines on each side. the backplate retains the original swinging keyhole cover. the baked black enameled inlay is used to accentuate or highlight the casting detail. the inner entrance door backplate remains in great overall condition, considering age. backplate measures 1 3/4 x 6 inches.
