c. 1880's original interior ornamental cast bronze interior pullman railroad passenger car locket set with functional cast iron latch bolt. original keeper lost long ago. fabricated by the adams & westlake, elkhart, ind. the surface-mount lock and knob contain a mostly uniform naturally aged surface patina. the adams & westlake was founded in 1857 in chicago, illinois. in the beginning, they began manufacturing and selling railroad supplies and hardware. with the opening of the american west and expansion of the railroads, the company prospered and diversified. within 45 years, adlake became one of the largest suppliers of equipment to the transportation industry in the world. in 1927, adlake relocated to its present site in elkhart, indiana. measures 5 1/2 x 4 inches.
