refinished late 19th century original antique american ornamental cast iron cable building interior lobby elevator push button wall-mount cab call fixture possibly fabricated by or for the elevator supply and repair company, chicago, il. the brushed metal elevator push button fixture is very elaborate in design, with an anthemion, egg & dart border and sunken scallop shell design motif. the original faux-pearl push buttons are original and intact. the push button fixture is rather large with a rather unusual when compared to more standard push button fixtures. esigned by the notable firm, holabird and roche, the cable building was completed in 1899 for the cable piano company. the chicago school commercial building with ornamental terra cotta facade, was demolished in the fall of 1960. photographer richard nickel managed to capture a number of well-documented images shortly before demolition. the brushed metal finish has been sealed with a clear coat lacquer. excellent overall condition.
