c. 1890's original antique american mottled brown majolica glazed interior residential fireplace figural tile. the late 19th century tile was fabricated by the trent tile co., trenton, nj. the tile was originally apart of a larger horizontal frieze, containing full-bodied women (possibly muses) surrounded by a scenic setting. the deeply embossed tile measures 6 x 6 inches. contains allover crazing with minor surface wear. backside free from brick and/or mortar.
