very clean and elegant antique american victorian era late 19th century salvaged chicago sold oak wood fireplace mantel fabricated by c.j.l. meyer & sons company, chicago, ills. the lightly painted quartered oak mantel features two sets of fluted and slightly tapered solid oak wood columns. the original french beveled edge plate glass mirror is intact with no chips, cracks, or breaks evident. the mantel contains a single coat of paint that can easily be stripped to reveal the highly sought after tiger stripe finish. the full mantel was salvaged from a chicago two-flat residence built around 1899.
