weathered vintage american industrial tin clock face with corresponding brass and steel gear assemblage and decorative clock hands. the printed paper clock face features bold black roman numerals for the hour on the inner circle and numbers for the minutes on the outer circle. along the bottom diminutive text reads "made by the sessions clock co., forestville, conn. u.s.a.". casing that would house the interior clock parts is missing. however, intricate gear and ratchet interior clock components are loosely attached to the tin face via the clock hands. the gears are otherwise exposed, but able to be attached to a wall. the clock functions only as a decorative object. wear and tear includes molding and a small tear on the paper face. the sessions clock company was founded in 1903 when william e. sessions and some of his family members took over a portion of the e.n. welsh company in forestville, connecticut. sessions' father's foundry in bristol had made clock cases for welsh, and william had become interested in clock making. until the 1930's sessions made a wide variety of clocks including advertising wall clocks for businesses, regulator clocks, and various styles of shelf and mantels. starting in the 1930s, the company began to make electric clocks and timers, and by the end of world war II, it was making electric movements that other companies placed in various kinds of cases, mainly metal and china. ownership changes started occurring in the late 1950s, and sessions was finally liquidated in 1970. measures 14 inches in diameter x 4 inches in depth.
