hard to find original early 1930's oversized american antique industrial depression era fully functional stationary all-metal chicago factory "self-closing" upright trash can designed and and patented in 1923 by james walker for the solar-sturges mfg. co., chicago, il. the heavy gauge pressed and folded furniture sheet steel waste receptacle contains a brushed and sanded metal finish sealed with a cleat coat lacquer. the giant-sized refuse can features a pyramidal-shaped hinged top for easy retrieval of the interior removable galvanized steel liner and/or rubbish. the trash can retains the original angled steel feet provide added support and stability. great overall condition, considering age.
