exceptionally intact, all original late 19th century richardsonian romanesque style heavily ornamented cast iron interior new york city commercial building lobby elevator floor indicator fabricated by howard iron works, buffalo, ny. the oversized heavy iron floor indicator contains fanciful double-sided cast bronze letters and numbers ranging from the subbasement to the sixth floor at the very top. the detachable endcaps feature richly ornamented, deep relief acanthus leaves. the indicator arrow movement is achieved through the original pulley and rope system contained within the cast iron housing. the indicator has been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the original brass plating remains partially intact.
