remarkably robust all original c. 1930's american antique industrial single "explosion" or vapor-proof green porcelain enameled pendant light designed and fabricated by the appleton electric company, chicago, il. the oversized reflector or shade conceals an impact-resistant clear glass bulb guard protected by a cast aluminum cage. the single weather-resistant ceramic socket is original and in working condition. the heavily reinforced cast aluminum tapered socket housing is incredibly strong and sealed tightly in place. the pendant contains a cast bronze "unilet" outlet mounted directly above the refinished aluminum housing. a number of threaded end pipes, fiittings (e.g., elbow joints) and flanges were added for mounting purposes. the bronze, aluminum and steel components have been refinished and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. only one available. the fixture itself, was discovered and salvaged from the old non-extant wrigley chewing gum factory.
