pair of original and intact american antique industrial chicago stadium interior green porcelain or vitreous enameled pendant light fixtures designed and fabricated by or for the benjamin electric mfg. co., chicago, il. the two fixtures contain shallow bowl reflectors or shades with integrated tapered socket housings. the original black enameled threaded-end steel poles or pipes are equipped with swivel-joint stamped or pressed circular-shaped steel canopies surrounding ball joints. each fixture contains a single standard size ceramic socket. the reflective white porcelain undersides are free from damage. chicago stadium was completed on march 28, 1929 at a cost of $9.5 million. the stadium was the largest indoor arena in the world at the time and housed the first air conditioning system. detroit's olympia stadium, built two years earlier, was a model for the chicago stadium and had a capacity of over 15,000 people. the architectural firm on record was hall, lawrence & ratcliffe, inc. the stadium was demolished in 1995 to make way for the united center. priced for the pair. measures 12 x 17 inches
