well-executed original 19th century antique american victorian era "flashed" ruby red glass diminutive interior residential window panel attributed to the flanagan biedenweg company, chicago, il. the deeply etched plate glass panel was coated with chemical solution containing copper sulfide then baked in a kiln to achieve the bright red surface finish. the flashed glass panel features two opposed greek-inspired mythological creatures integrated with a centrally located decorative urn or planter with palmette and scrolls. the delicate panel was salvaged from either a sidelight or window within a large victorian mansion located on chicago's gold coast. the original wood sash frame was removed long ago. likely fabricated between 1875-1880. free from breaks or cracks. measures 8.5 inches x 13.5 inches
