truly exceptional and well-maintained early 20th century antique american ornamental stamped steel interior residential fireplace gas insert or grate designed and fabricated by the dawson brothers foundry, chicago, il. the c. 1900's late victorian era fireplace contains a fully restored lightly polished copper-plated finish. the detachable stamped steel figural summer cover features a centrally located costumed colonial man flanked by flowing ribbons and leafage. the damper handle and gas valve key are intact. the right corner is missing a bolt and nut, but that can be easily replaced. great overall condition. measures 30 1/2 x 25 x 4 inches.
