exceptionally unique and fully refinished american vintage industrial illuminated "explosion proof" floor lamp fabricated in part by the crouse-hinds company, syracuse, ny. the freestanding single light industrial lamp contains a three-legged cabriole style tripod base formerly used on a sheep-shearer device from the late 19th century. the threaded end steel pipe and connectors have been refinished and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the "sun purple" tinted early 20th century appleton electric bulb guard or "jar" contains lightly etched manufacturer markings. the socket housing, conduit box and cage are comprised of reinforced cast aluminum. the lamp has been rewired with braided cloth lamp cord.
