largely intact 19th century antique american ornamental cast iron interior residential fireplace summer cover designed and fabricated by or for henry dibblee & co., chicago, il. the perforated summer cover contains highly detailed and intricately designed foliage surrounding a protruding rosette with beaded border. the original enameled finish was removed long ago. light surface rust with small traces of a black paint finish found throughout. the top left corner contains a hairline crack. salvaged from a chicago residence constructed in the 1870's. measures approximately 19 1/2 x 25 3/4 inches.
