original 19th century antique american industrial ornamental cast iron ceiling or wall-mount kitchen stove ventilator or grate designed and fabricated by the simonds, mfg. co., new york city, new york. the refinished brushed metal grille was salvaged from an 1870's chicago workers cottage demolished in february of 2016. the fully adjustable grate contains multiple louvers designed to adjust the air flow. the rectangular-shaped decorative grille exhibits design elements consistent with the period. the brushed metal finish has been sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the wheel contains a cast brass eyelet for use with a metal rod to pull the louvers one way or the other from afar. only one available.
