group of three matching 19th century american victorian era factory, warehouse or commercial store shop fittings, consisting of a series of "shift-able" and reversible brackets containing lugs adapted to fit snugly into sockets found on the metal strips or runners, which are attached to the walls by means of screws or any other convenient method. a glance at the illustration (see above) exhibits the adaptation of this style of shelving for the display and convenient disposal of all sorts of articles, bulky and otherwise. the shelving may be run in continuous parallel lengths or broken into sections, as maybe desired, and the width between shelves may be altered to economize space. the bracket units were manufactured by the a.w. koch adjustable bracket co., peroria, il. scrolliated brackets and cast iron runners retain the original baked black enameled or "japanned" surface finish. deeply embossed manufacture markings indicate maker and patent date. surface wear evident. each bracket measures 25 1/2 inches in height and 8 inches in depth. priced for the lot.
