original and intact late 1940's american vintage industrial ceiling mount illuminated exit sign designed and fabricated by the western fluorescent light company, chicago, ill. the incandescent light fixture retains the original reverse-baked on enameled red lettering against a solid white background. the housing is comprised of cold-rolled pressed and folded steel with nicely aged surface patina. the industrial exit light was recently salvaged from the roberts electric company, chicago, ills. the machine shop and factory were formally located in the historic fulton market district. the company specialized in fabrication components used in military aircraft. measures 15 x 8 x 7 inches.
