matching pair of original oversized c. 1940's vintage american industrial intact cast steel flush mount "explosion proof" indoor/outdoor electric wall sconces designed and fabricated by the crouse-hinds company, syracuse, ny. the reinforced single electric light fixtures were salvaged from a midwest grain elevator complex. the socket housing is comprised of solid steel with partially intact galvanized (i.e., zinc coating). the threaded end aluminum bulb guard cage is made of aluminum. the impact resistant clear glass bulb guard has a lightly embossed crouse-hinds logo. crouse-hinds electric company, a manufacturer of high grade electrical specialties, was established in 1894 in syracuse, new york. they later shortened their name to crouse-hinds company and beginning in the early 1920's specialized in the manufacture of traffic signals, controllers and accessories. measure 13 x 5 1/2 x 7 inches. priced for the pair.
