pair of original strong and sturdy late 1930's american antique industrial factory assembly line stools designed and fabricated by the angled steel stool company, plainwell, mich. the matching stools are comprised largely of riveted joint angled steel with a mostly uniform brushed and sanded bare metal finish, treated with a clear coat lacquer. the riveted joint stretchers provide added support and stability. the spacious saddle-type solid maple wood seats and matching slightly contoured backrests have been sanded and sealed. names of factory chair occupants are carved in at least one of the chairs or stools. the heavy gauge steel bases contain protruding footrests and inward-turned ball feet - the latter being a distinctive design feature on the "otsego" stools. priced for the pair. base diameter measures 14 inches, seat height measures 28 inches and with backrest at 43 inches, seat diameter measures 14 1/2 inches.
