original c. 1900-10 antique american hand-carved folk art chicago amusement park or carnival ride fragment featuring a polychromatic shield or plaque with a centrally located protruding three-dimensional figural jester head. the early american folk art painted pine wood game or ride fragment contains an early coat of paint with allover crazing evident. the large fragment is weathered and worn from exposure to the elements when in use. the ornamental carnival artifact contains angled iron brackets on the backside that were used for mounting it against a ride or game. fabricator and/or wood carver not known.
