recently shuttered chicago foundry
very rare and early example of american industrial signage in the form of a single-sided pine wood board containing a polychromatic hand painted finish with allover crazed finish, consistent with age. the early 1920's gantry "crane operator" sign was likely mounted on or near the controls of a chicago foundry gantry crane. the distinct industrial folk art sign remains structurally sound and stable. the original opposed screw holes for mounting flush against a wall or flat surface are slightly worn, but not cracked or damaged. nicely aged surface patina left untouched. 12" x 14"
