vintage american industrial railroad locomotive and/or freight car "derail" lollipop sign salvaged from an old chicago railroad yard. exact sign fabricator unknown. the circular sign is comprised of heavy gauge steel with original bent solid steel support rod or bracket bolted firmly to the backside of the sign. the navy blue enameled finish remains largely intact. derail protection is designed to stop a runaway freight car and/or prevent a locomotive from moving a parked rail car without authorization. surface wear evident.
