original and intact early 20th century antique american industrial solid oak wood four-legged workbench designed and fabricated by the c. christiansen mfg. co., chicago, il. these benches were often used in schools, factories and other institutions. the reinforced base is comprised of four legs with bolted stretchers throughout. the heavily used workbench top contains a rapid acting vice with turned wood handle manufactured by the richards-wilcox mfg. company. the back section of the bench contains a long and narrow tool tray. the industrial workbench has been cleaned, sanded and clear-coated. measures 51 x 23 x 33 inches.
