original late 19th or early 20th century detailed pressed or stamped bronze metal "de bercy" pattern interior residential pocket door backplate or escutcheon with nicely aged surface patina. the antique american sliding door backplate was fabricated by the russell & erwin mfg. co., new britain, ct. the backplate contains a recessed "cup" handle with pierced skeleton keyhole. measures 8 1/2 x 2 inches.
