refinished original early 20th century heavy duty cast iron excelsior factory machine shop pedestal base possibly fabricated by or for the royersford foundry & machine co., inc., royersford, pa. the tapered brushed iron base contains a newly added hickory wood tabletop with recessed apron. makes for an ideal plant or display stand. the "no. 8" machine base likely supported a grinder or arbor or drill press. the brushed metal finish has been sealed with a clear coat lacquer.
