remarkable original and solidly-constructed early 20th century antique american industrial heavy gauge steel workbench salvaged from a rooftop elevator machine room. the robust stationary table is comprised of both cold-rolled furniture sheet iron and angled steel with extensive riveted joints throughout. the workbench was fabricated for the otis elevator company, new york city, ny. the industrial work table likely was housed in the machine room since the time the elevator was installed in 1910-15. the heavy duty workbench has been thoroughly cleaned and brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. makes for an ideal kitchen island. measures 49 x 25 1/4 x 35 1/2 inches.
