original and completely intact c. 1870's ornamental residential entrance door oversized mortise lock designed and fabricated by the russell & erwin mfg. co., new britain,ct. the mortise lock contains an intricately designed faceplate with intact latch and dead bolts. the recessed areas contains a bronze metallic inlay used to accentuate the casting detail. the iron lock box retains the original baked black enameled finish. measures approximately 7 3/4 x 1 1/8 x 4 inches.
