original and completely intact american depression era mobile compartmentalized side table and/or vanity cabinet designed and fabricated by the simmons mfg. co., kenosha, wisc. the pressed and folded metal cabinet with tilting mirror was patented by albert witike in the 1930's. the brushed metal cabinet contains multiple sliding drawers with original knob pulls. the rectangular-shaped mirror with remains in great overall condition. the square-shaped tubular legs are strong and sturdy. the salvaged chicago hospital furniture piece has been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. very clean and simple in design. great overall condition. simmons specialized in the industrial design and fabrication of all-metal furniture for use in mostly commercial applications (e.g., hospitals, schools, office buildings, hotels, etc.).
