original and intact near mint 1860's-1880's light green aqua heavily whittled glass soda bottle fabricated for james and samuel johnston in philadelphia, pa. the slim body has sloping shoulders that lead to a long neck and applied tapered collar and ring. the front body is embossed with the company name in ornate open-lined lettering, "johnston & co / philada", with a raised and underlined end-letter "a" in the city. on the reverse is a large open-lined letter "j" logo. the base is smooth, evidencing manufacture with two leaf mold. the glass is completely intact and in good condition, with no discoloration and little surface wear. it exhibits appealing crudity in the form of allover heavy whittling and bubbles. james and samuel johnston operated at 1121 cherry street during the 1860's. measures 7 inches in height.
