rare antique american early electric single incandescent lamp wall-mount dentist office faries "bracket" style articulating arm task lamp. fabricated around 1900-15 by the faries mfg. co., dectur, il. the perforated swivel bracket is comprised of cast iron with finials and friction dial with knurled edge intact. the double-jointed tubular arm remains in excellent condition, considering age. the perkins paddle or key socket has been rewired with a period appropriate off-white cotton cloth braided lamp cord and plug. the tilting pressed steel hubbell "slim helmet" shade retains the original green enameled finish with minor surface discoloration. the bracket style lamp was a popular seller for dentists, jewelers and/or watchmakers, doctors, etc. remarkable intact example of the "no. 15" model, offered in several electrical part catalogs of the early 20th century. the original oxidized copper-plated finish remains largely intact. similar models available.
